Jul 13, 2012· Has anyone here ever repaired a battery charger rectifier problem by replacing the flat selenium rectifiers (large flat things on the back case) with diodes or a bridge rectifier? Does it cause the charger to over charge the battery? I have 2 not working, and its time to fix them. Mine are both under 12 amp models and I know how to do it. I thought I'd ask here to see if any one has done this ...

Oct 22, 2010· Apparently was sufficient for the selenium rectifier (which doesnt itself drop any voltage) so wouldnt R1 serve the same purpose with a replacement diode? With a 120vac voltage at the rectifier (I measured it) and that gives you 45MA at the rectifier which matches the rectifier .
